Calling all BPW Locals!  The Young Careerist Program is in danger of extinction since there has been only one local throughout the state that has submitted a candidate to participate at state convention.  Please take a moment and send me the names and contact info of eligible participation candidates in your local area.  Attached is a REQUEST form that  should be completed by the candidate.  Also attached is a FACT SHEET on the Young Careerist Program that you can make copies of to hand out to potential candidates.  The state executive committee is also planning a red carpet event to showcase all the YCs from the state during the Women Mean Business Gala on June 1st, 7:00 p.m.  This is a chance for our young people to feel like a princess.  Please don't let this opportunity pass for someone.  Share this info with any eligible individuals you come across.

The mandatory BPW/USA eligibility requirements for a State Young Careerist are:

  • Must be between the ages of 21 and 35, inclusive, by July 31st following the first competition in which she/he participates;

  • Must be living, working, training or continuing her/his education in the area served by the sponsoring local organization;

This year’s speech topics include:

1)      Define a Leader and describe how you are developing your lifestyle to become a Leader.

2)      Describe a Mentor and how you would mentor a participant of an At-Risk Girls Program.

3)      You are lobbying Congress on behalf of Women's Rights, for what women’s issue would you lobby - how and why?

      4) How can men and children help women achieve equality and what responsibilities do women

          have to educate men and children on the inequalities that exist today for women?

Thank you,
